At my home in Kochi when I was working there, we were fed interesting lunches. Many volunteers protested the food, which was normally just different forms of cooked okra or what Indians call “ladyfingers”. We were lucky to get egg curry once in a blue moon, but you could always expect fat Kerala rice with ladyfingers, and if the chef was feeling generous she’d through in a plastic bag of chopped onion.
