Located near the border of Argentina, Portillo is a legendary ski resort in the Andes Mountain Range of Chile. With 5 chairlifts and 9 surface lifts, it is a fairly small resort. But when the snow is dumping, skiers have access to endless fresh runs. And what’s the best part? Chile is in the southern hemisphere which means the ski season runs July-October. Yep, I skied in August. I loved this snaky road to the base of the mountain. One of the chairlifts soars above it which added a little fun to our ski days when we waved to Chilean and Argentinian truck drivers and they honked back.
